WESTCLIFF Hard were pushed all the way by derby rivals Westcliff Lawn in their Mixed Division One match.
Both rubbers went to three sets but Hard prevailed 4-2 in the Leigh & Westcliff LTA match.
Paul Clark and Linda Vaughan put Hard ahead with a 6-2 5-7 6-2 win over Lawn’s Rob Hunter and Julie Milner.
And Dru Redmond and Nick Bohringer wrapped things up by defeated George Spillett and Wendy Thrale 6-2 2-6 6-2.
Thorpe Bay IV and Kent Elms II fought out two three-set rubbers before their Men’s Division Three match ended in a stalemate.
Roger Perham and Nigel White put Elms 6-4 up but Thorpe Bay’s Nigel White and Dave Gilbert took the remaining sets 7-5 7-5.
Ian Carlisle and Steve Sayers won their second set to level their match with Elms’ Jason McGinley and James Needs after they took the first 6-4.
But McGinley and Needs claimed the third 6-2 to ensure the fixture finished in a 3-3 draw.
Invicta secured a 3-2 win over Westcliff Hard in Ladies Division Four. Maddie Maxwell and Abbie Greenwood put Invicta ahead with a 6-4 6-2 win over Jacqueline James and Lesley Gillard.
And despite Barbara Dawson and Steph Andrews losing 1-6 6-4 2-6 to Hard’s Chris Hanson and Judy Mason, their set win was enough to secure overall victory and four points.
