BARRY Corr wants to celebrate his 100th Southend United appearance with a goal and three points at Oxford United tomorrow.

The Irish striker will clock up a century of appearances in the clash at the Kassam Stadium.

And he is desperate to mark the occasion in style.

“It would make my 100th game even better if I could score and help the team get the win we all want,” said Corr.

“I didn’t actually really this was going to be my 100th appearance for the club but it’s something I’ll be telling my family because I’m really quite proud of it.

“Oxford have started the season well so it’s going to be a big test for us but we’ve drawn the last couple of games and want to keep that progress going by getting all three points against.”

Oxford are currently second in the League Two standings, while the Shrimpers have slipped to 14th after failing to win during September.

However, Corr remains hopeful that Phil Brown’s side will soon start to rise back up the table.

“We’ve had a few changes and I don’t think these things just happen overnight but it’s work in progress and I think there have been signs of improvement recently,” said Corr, who joined the Shrimpers in July 2010.

“We’ve stopped the run of defeats but now we want to get on a run of wins, hopefully starting tomorrow.”

Corr also wants to help that happen by rediscovering his scoring touch in front of goal.

The 28-year-old has not netted for Blues since bagging the only goal of the game against Plymouth Argyle on the opening day of the season.

He has since failed to net in nine appearances but has never gone 10 games without scoring for the Shrimpers.

And he also holds happy memories from previous visits to the Kassam Stadium.

“I scored two there last season in the JPT and I also scored there the time before that with Southend as well,” said Corr.

“It seems to have been a good ground for me and hopefully it can be tomorrow as well because I don’t want to add more pressure on myself and I want to get back scoring.”

Corr will be therefore be aiming for more memorable moments in a Shrimpers shirt.

And he currently has two main highlights from his spell at Roots Hall.

“Scoring against Leyton Orient and helping us get to Wembley in the JPT last season immediately springs to mind,” said Corr.

“But my favourite goal I’ve ever scored was a header against Stevenage in my first season because I connected really well with it and it nearly took the net off.

“It was also my 20th goal of that season which was a big achievement for me but hopefully there can be more good moments to come.”

Corr will become just the second player in the current Southend squad to make 100 appearances for the club, following in the foot-steps of Freddy Eastwood who has played 184 times.

However, defender Luke Prosser and midfielder Michael Timlin are now just six games away from making their 100th appearance.
