SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown feels his team are starting to come back into form.
The Shrimpers travel to Oxford United tomorrow after going six games without a win.
But Brown believes Blues are beginning to get back to their best.
“I think the wind is coming back into our sails now,” said the former Hull City chief.
“We’ve been working hard with the players in training to get their confidence back up and I think it’s been working.
“Oxford have had a very good start to the season but we’re looking forward to testing ourselves against them.
“And we’ve also seen that Oxford’s home form hasn’t been the best and that’s something we want to capitalise on by trying to take the game to them.”
The Shrimpers will also be strengthened by the return of left-back Ben Coker who is available again after serving a one-match suspension.
And Brown is delighted to have the defender back in action.
“Ben, for me, has been one of the finds of the season, along with Will Atkinson in the midfield,” said the Shrimpers boss.
“Ahead of Ben, Anthony Straker has been pulling up trees for us and that makes us dangerous down the left-hand side.”
But Brown has yet to finalise the rest of his starting line-up and admits he has a selection headache after the midweek performance from his team in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Colchester United.
“I’m treating that as a first team match and there were certainly people who put themselves forward to be selected,” said Brown.
“We will also have to see how Freddy (Eastwood) and Mark (Phillips) react to training before deciding what part they can play in the game.
“There’s certainly plenty to be thinking about but it’s a good test and one we’re looking forward to.
