THREE crocked Bowers & Pitsea players could make their return to the first team tomorrow.

Calvin Poku, Billy Colton and Dale Gladen are all set for fitness tests ahead of the Essex Senior League match against Ilford at Crown Avenue.

Strikers Poku and Colton have been battling ankle and hamstring injuries respectively while left back Gladen picked up a bruised foot in their 3-2 loss away at FC Romania last weekend.

Manager John Doyle said he is hopeful the trio will be fit in time for Saturday’s clash which he is excited about as his team go in search for their fourth win in five matches.

Doyle said: “I think all three of them should be back for the match although we will have to wait and see before making a final call.

“We are really looking forward to the game as we have been getting good results recently and hopefully that will continue.”

Hullbridge, who lost 3-0 away at Bowers on Tuesday, are hopeful their skipper Bob Hodgson will be available for them again when they welcome Enfield 1893 to Lower Road on Saturday.

Hodgson has been sidelined since August 24 when he got a calf injury playing against Ilford and manager Dan Braney said he would be a key player to have back for them.

He said: “It doesn’t matter what level you play or what team you are, the influence from your captain can help.

“We all have to raise our game after Tuesday’s defeat and we know it will tough as Enfield beat Great Wakering earlier this season, but we’re going to give it our best.”

Ahead of their trip to Sawbridgeworth, Basildon United are hoping centre back Aaron Kurner will be available for them as they await paperwork to go through for the signing.

The Bees will be looking to continue on their good start to the league season which has seen them win five out of eight.

>GREAT Wakering Rovers produced a sparky 2-0 victory over Southend Manor on Wednesday night.

The village outfit have another test on Saturday when they host Sporting Bengal United.
