KRIS Clark is targeting a fourth successive victory for the Essex Leopards when they head to Leicester Warriors tomorrow night.
The Big Cats began the season with a run of four defeats in five games which saw them suffer an early elimination from the National Trophy.
But since then Clark has come to the fore to help the Southend and Brentwood based club put together a run of improved results.
And the American guard is now hoping for more of the same this weekend.
“It’s always about how you bounce back from a little adversity and I think we have responded well to a few early losses, which were a little frustrating,” said Clark.
“With everyone trying to get used to how each other plays those types of early losses can happen.
“But we’re doing well now and I expect nothing less than maximum effort and a win against Leicester this weekend.”
Clark, who was playing in Australia last season, top scored for Leopards in victories against both the Tees Valley Mohawks and Hemel Storm.
And he is confident the Big Cats team have improved since their poor start to the campaign.
“Being knocked out of the Trophy competition was rough, but there were a few early lessons learned for us there,” said Clark.
“Now the team is getting its chemistry and I do think we are starting to see the best of us.
“There’s still plenty of work to be done but we’ll put it in to be our best.”
Leopards were at their best last weekend to win their opening two league games of the new season as they saw off both Tees Valley Mohawks and Team Northumbria in back-to-back matches.
And those victories delighted Clark.
“It was very pleasing to get the opening two league wins, especially with both of them being road wins,” said Clark.
“Winning away from home is always refreshing and we want to do it again tomorrow.”
Leopards will also be confident of getting the win as Leicester lost all six of their National Trophy games, went out of the National Cup to third division Northants, and have lost their first two league games of the season.
