SAM Malone will be flying the flag for south-east Essex in the elite ABAs after being crowned Eastern Counties 64kg champion.
The Rayleigh ABC boxer won by a unanimous decision after beating Norwich Lad's Norfolk champion Rylan Charlton over three rounds.
But there was disappointment for Berry Boys' super heavyweight Mark Quirey and Billericay's Steve Woods.
Quirey had hoped to take the 91kg-plus crown but lost in the second round against Heroes ABC's Ben Roberts when the referee stopped the contest in the second round.
The Basildon fighter and Essex champ was giving away 15 years and two stone to the Norfolk champion.
Woods lost out to Chadwell St Mary's Kieran Redding in the 60kg final on a unanimous decision.
Harwich ABC's John Wheatley was crowned 69kg champion on a majority verdict despite suffering a bloody nose and receiving a standing eight count against Haddenham's Liam Goodjohn.
Tilbury Dockers' Tey Lynn-Jones had the crowd on their feet but lost on a majority decision to Paulus Maciulevicius from Great Yarmouth's Kingfisher club in the 75kg class.
The finals were hosted by Canvey ABC at The Paddocks, in Long Road, Canvey, on Friday night.
