C&K Basildon Ladies are playing a waiting game before knowing if they will complete a league and cup double this year.
The team are through to the final of the South East Combination League Cup which will be played next month.
And they are also top of the league having finished their fixture programme, but title rivals QPR have their last game to play with a win giving the London club the championship.
Basildon were taken to extra time by QPR in their League Cup semi-final before Zoe Rushen grabbed a winner to put C&K in the final.
The 2-1 win ended QPR’s 17-match unbeaten league and cup run and set up a final with either Enfield Town or Norwich City on May 11.
Sara Sinclair gave Basildon the lead after five minutes when she reacted first inside the six-yard box after Claire Lacey’s far post header across goal from a Jenny Brown-Wealls free-kick.
Basildon enjoyed large spells of possession in the first half, but the closest that they came to extending their lead came a few minutes before half-time when a Jenny Brown-Wealls free kick was turned round the post.
QPR levelled the scores on 50 minutes when Leah Jones curled a free kick round the Basildon wall and into the net. Basildon blew their chance to regain the lead when QPR’s Jeta Bytyqi was sent off for diverting Claire Lacey’s goal-bound header away.
C&K were awarded a penalty but Brown-Wealls spot-kick hit the crossbar and rebounded to safety.
The match went into extra time and Basildon secured the win when Brown-Wealls’ corner was headed down into the six-yard box and Rushen swept the ball into the net.
