BILLERICAY Town manager Kim Coster knows her team will recover from their disappointing 1-0 defeat to Colchester Town.
Billericay were undone in the 26th minute when a Colchester corner landed among a crowd of players in the Eastern Region Premier League match.
The hosts cleared the ball but Colchester claimed it had crossed the line and the referee awarded the goal.
Billericay were thwarted by good goalkeeping as they chased an equaliser.
“Football can be harsh and today was one of them,” said Coster.
“We deserved something out of the game, but Colchester played well in the last 12 minutes.
“They soaked up the pressure and in the final minutes their keeper pulled off a excellent save from Dunsdon’s great strike.
“We now have two tough games away: Peterborough and Lowestoft. But we have a great team that will bounce back from today’s result.”
Billericay made a good start before Colchester’s goal but were unable to beat the defence.
Hayley Spallin and Sophie Whiting were denied by the goalkeeper in the second half and Nikki Dunsdon hit the woodwork.
The final 12 minutes saw Billericay lay siege to the Colchester area, with the keeper pushing over Dunsdon’s strike at the death with an outstanding save.
The defeat leaves Billericay fifth in the table.
