CRAIG Edwards says Billericay Town are looking to finish the season with maximum points from their remaining three games.
The Blues boss has watched hide side hit form at home in the closing weeks of the campaign, having beaten promotion chasing Dulwich Hamlet and rivals Grays Athletic at New Lodge in the past week.
Blues face a trip to Lowestoft Town tomorrow in what Edwards says is always one of the most difficult matches of the season.
Their final two games are against Wealdstone and Wingate & Finchley.
“All the games we have left are very different. “Lowestoft is always a very difficult game. There is usually only a goal in it so we need to prepare for a real battle on the pitch.
“Wealdstone will be planning for next season. I remember after we were promoted we lost our final game 4-1 so it will be interesting to see how they react. Meanwhile Wingate & Finchley are fighting for their lives.”
Edwards put Blues upturn in home form down to a less busy schedule, which saw them play eight games in 16 days at the end of March.
“It has been nice to have a bit more time between matches. Our schedule was so chaotic we couldn’t prepare properly but given a bit of time on the training pitch we are showing what we can do.
“We have scored six goals without return in our last two home games and three home clean sheets in a row is fantastic for the boys, who have been very strong at the back all season.”
Edwards praised his young side for their determination and said potentially finishing the season with 72 points would be satisfying.
“If you had said that to me at the start of the season I would have thought we had a good chance of going up. If we can sharpen up at home and take this season’s away form into next we will do well I am sure of that.”
l CANVEY Island could put the final nail into the coffin of Thamesmead Town tomorrow when they travel to South London.
A win for Danny Heale’s win and results going against them elsewhere would see Thamesmead be the third club relegated from the Ryman Premier league.
The Gulls warmed up for the win with a 5-1 training ground friendly win against their second team on Tuesday.
