LAKESIDE Hammers were unable to make it a winning Good Friday double as they went down 48-42 away to Eastbourne Eagles.
The Hammers had secured a 55-42 win over the Eagles at Arena Essex this afternoon but were could not make it a double at Arlington.
But they picked up four points from their Easter endeavours and co-promoter Jon Cook had no complaints.
“It was a very good day, all things considered, Cook said.
"We had a great home win and a great crowd at The Raceway, and then achieved an extra point tonight which was well deserved for our efforts on the night.
"Roll on next Friday when we return to The Raceway determined to avenge the point we dropped to Swindon last month."
Arilngton proved a happy hunting ground on his old track for Hammers rider Lewis Bridger as he led the visitors' scoring with 13 points.
The first heat was shared but a 4-2 win for Hammers saw them take the lead at 7-5 before Eastbourne levelled with a 4-2.
Heats four and five were re-run and were both shared, as was heat six. But the Eagles took a 22-20 lead following a 4-2 in heat seven and following another shared heat took a 4-2 in a re-run heat nine.
Another 4-2 gave the hosts a 33-27 advantage but the meeting finished with five shared heats.
But Lakeside remain top of the Elite League standings, with a two point lead over Kings Lynn.
