CHRIS Vaughan wants Southend Rugby Club to end their season in style when they host Dings Crusaders at Warners Bridge tomorrow.

The Seasiders could still finish fifth if other results go their way on the final day of the National Two South campaign.

But Vaughan, who has scored four tries in his last three games, is just only concentrating on making sure Southend come out on top.

“It's going to be tough because Dings need a win and have always been hard to beat,” said the in-form centre.

“However, if we turn up mentally like we did against Cambridge last week then I'm sure it will be another good win and a good end to the season.”

Southend are currently eighth in the table and have won four of their last five games.

Last time out, they impressively saw off Cambridge 53-25.

Vaughan led the charge with two tries and was thrilled to have come out on top.

“It was one of the most enjoyable games I've played in for a while,” said the former King John School pupil.

“Cambridge had a few players missing but still had a very strong side so to put 53 points on them was very pleasing and just shows the effort and commitment everyone put in.”

Vaughan was also pleased to again team up with Southend’s impressive young fly-half Brad Burr for his tries which took his tally for the season to seven.

But he does not know if the latest brace has made it his most prolific ever campaign.

“I really can't remember what my highest number of tries is because I've been hit in the head too many times now,” joked Vaughan.

“But I'm sure this season has got to be up there with the most.

“Against Cambridge I had to thank Brad again for my tries and he’s told me I’ve got to start paying him.

“He’s someone I enjoy playing alongside. He’s such a talented rugby player and the way he tackles I'm glad he's on my side!

“We get on really well off the pitch so I'm sure that has helped with the connection on the pitch so hopefully that can help us again tomorrow.”
