ROCHFORD Hundred’s Youth Shield side defeated Orsett 5-0 with Bradley Bawden, Connor Morris, Josh Hickling, Glenn Mann and Conor Rogers all picking up wins in the clean sweep.
The men’s Thornton Cup side faced a tough away match at Channels.
The morning foursomes proved extremely tight with Paul Day & Josh Hickling, Tom Wells & Taylor Carter, and Connor Morris & Tom Watkins giving Rochford a precious one point lead at lunch.
Five points were then required to give the away side victory, which early on looked tough as three points were quickly gained by Channels after Andy Frye had secured the first point for Rochford.
Tom Watkins followed by Paul Daly put Rochford back in front with a fine 9-6 win sealed by Connor Morris, Bradley Bawden and Jack Dyer.
Not to be out done the ladies bronze team led by captain Angie Dale showed their steel with an excellent 4-3 win against Basildon.
The midweek Scott Spencer was graced with 99 players with Bob Wells emerging top of the pile with 39 points and a handicap cut to 14.
Wells opened his round with four straight pars which set the foundation for his victory, which was followed by three more pars and a birdie to seal a deserved success.
Peter King and Tony Hadley filled the minor spots as both returned 38 points with North snatching second on countback.
Finally, the ladies section held their Australian spoons competition with Kay Campbell-Carr and Sue Clarke winning on 32 points with the chance of a placing in the regional final depending on results from other clubs.
