MAX Whitlock's amazing winning run at the Commonwealth Games was ended in arguably his strongest event.
Scotland's Dan Keatings pipped Whitlock to Commonwealth gold on the pommel horse in Glasgow's SSE Hydro.
Keatings, 24, produced a stunning routine in front of his home crowd to score 16.058 and see off the challenge of Whitlock who won a bronze medal on the pommel horse at the London Olympics.
The returning Englishman Louis Smith, who won silver in London two years ago, was third.
Whitlock claimed the silver medal with a score of 15.966, while Smith took away bronze with a mark of 14.966.
There is no time to rest for Whitlock, however, as he now competes in the final of the rings later on Thursday evening.
