WITH Glasgow’s Commonwealth Games now over, we asked our reporter CHRIS PHILLIPS who were in Scotland for the Games for his top five moments.
1 MAX WHITLOCK: It’s not often we have a sportsman right at the top of his trade in south-east Essex.
But, in Max Whitlock, that’s exactly what we have at the moment.
And being in attendance for his first two gold medals was very special indeed.
2 OLIVER DINGLEY: You won’t ever meet a nicer sportsman than Oliver Dingley, so seeing him win an unexpected bronze medal was right up there for me.
It was all very tense and I was so nervous for his final dive I couldn’t watch!
3 LIBBY CLEGG: The T12 100m final had not been on my radar before the Games got underway, but it actually became one of the my most memorable moments.
The noise inside the stadium when Libby Clegg won gold was nothing like I had ever heard before and the playing of the Scottish national anthem also gave my goose-bumps that night
4 AMIR WILLIAMSON: He may not have finished among the medals, but Amir Williamson exceeded expectation by finishing sixth in the hammer final.
It signalled his ability to compete at senior level and interviewing afterwards was another high point for me.
5 RUGBY SEVENS: The rugby at Ibrox was the first event I attended and it gave me an immediate indication of how special these Games were going to be.
The matches were great and so was the atmosphere, with plenty of memorable and rather noisy crowd karaoke taking place!
