Southend United may have been outclassed by a top Premiership side on Saturday, but defender Adam Barrett believes Blues contributed to their own downfall.
The centre back was delighted to finally get his chance against a top-flight side after a stomach problem stopped him from featuring in the first clash with Spurs last month and victory over Manchester United.
But he was not smiling at the final whistle.
"Spurs are a top six or seven Premiership side with superb players, but we didn't help ourselves," said Barrett.
"We let them have it too easy, our shape wasn't what it should have been and we kept on giving the ball away too.
"You get punished for doing that against these types of sides and it's disappointing that we couldn't give them more of a match."
