Southend United defender Peter Clarke hopes history will not be repeating itself at Birmingham City tonight.
Last month the Shrimpers suffered a comprehensive 4-0 defeat against Steve Bruce's side just three days after facing Tottenham Hotspur in the Carling Cup.
And, although the re-match is again following a second knockout meeting with Spurs - in the FA Cup this time - Clarke is keen to secure a different outcome.
"Last time we played them it was after the Spurs match had gone to extra time and that took a lot out of us," said the centre back, who has been in fine form since forcing his way back into the team.
"We contributed to our own downfall that day and we need to try and eradicate that tonight.
"Birmingham are a strong side, but we've already taken points off a number of the top teams this season and will be looking to do it again."
