Phil Brown's weekly Echo column: The players have been visibly lifted

In the build up to the game I think we had all been depressed about what had been happening.

But we’re now feeling much better ourselves, especially as the draw felt more like a win after Daniel Bentley had saved a 95th minute penalty.

It certainly feels like a turning point in our season but I don’t really think you can say that for sure until you look back on it when all the games have been played.

We altered the formation for the Peterborough game but we now have to decide what will be best for the game with Coventry this weekend.

Being at home the onus may be on us to attack a little bit more but I thought the formation worked well.

Adam Barrett looked more solid and compact being in a back three and Luke O’Neill and our new signing Stephen Hendrie are well suited to lining up as wing-backs.

I was also pleased with how many men it gave us in midfield while the front two still caused problems.

Tyrone Barnett already looks to be right on his game and I thought Jack Payne benefitted from his physicality alongside him.

But we may actually be forced to change things around a little bit at the weekend as Adam Thompson is struggling with an injury.

He tightened up in training yesterday, maybe as a result of the number of games he’s been playing in quite a short space of time.

He was in for treatment yesterday and he’s one we will be keeping an eye on in the build up to what is another big game this weekend.

We’re preparing for it in an meticulous way and if that’s what needed with this group then so be it.

But it’s important we don’t go too gung ho.

I think we’ve down that in our last two games and we’ve ended up conceding seven goals without scoring.

We can’t afford that sequence to continue on Saturday.

CONTRACT TALKS WITH JACK CONTINUING

WE’VE held more contract talks with Jack Payne and things are edging along nicely.

Steve Kavanagh has spoken to both of his agents and I sat down with him after training on Tuesday as well.

He’s a young lad looking to secure his future and we’re hoping it will soon be sorted.

But it’s never done until it’s done so I don’t want to get too carried away too soon.

PROSSER'S AGENT NEEDS TO BE MORE PRO-ACTIVE

I THINK Luke Prosser’s agent needs to become more pro-active in trying to sort out his future.

Three or four clubs in League Two have expressed an interest but I think more could be done because I think it’s the right time for Pross to move on now.

I think he’s need a fresh chapter in his career but if he ends up staying with us then that’s not a problem either.
