SOUTHEND United are expected to complete the signing of Norwich City striker Jamar Loza today, Echosport understands.
Loza has been on trial with the Shrimpers for the past fortnight.
And Blues are now set to seal a deal which will see the 21-year-old back at Roots Hall until at least the end of the season.
“Everything is now in place for Jamar to sign and it could well be completed today,” said a source close to the club.
“He’s impressed during his trial and the management are keen to get more pace into the team in attack.”
Blues boss Phil Brown is believed to have included a number of clauses in the deal which, if met, will see Loza handed a longer deal to stay with the Shrimpers.
The Jamaican international, who has also been attracting interest from Port Vale, had a loan spell with Southend back in 2014, scoring once in seven appearances.
Luke Prosser - set to join Northampton Town
But his return will coincide with the departure of defender Luke Prosser who is close to joining Northampton Town for a minimal fee.
Cambridge United are also in the running for the 27-year-old centre-back but Prosser is believed to favour a switch to the Cobblers who are currently top of League Two.
The move would see Prosser, who has made 164 appearances for the Shrimpers since signing in 2010, link up with his former Blues team-mate Ryan Cresswell.
