FRANCK Moussa is back at Southend United.
The former Shrimpers midfielder trained with the club yesterday.
And Blues boss Phil Brown has revealed the 26-year-old could line up for the under 21s against Cambridge United this afternoon.
“Franck has a niggling knee injury at the moment and we’re not too sure whether or not it’s going to stop him from playing but we’re certainly having a look at him,” said Brown.
“He’s been let go by Charlton and he’s a former player of ours who lives quite close by so he’s come in to train and to try and get fit again.
“At the same time we’ll be looking at him and it’s a win win situation for us both to be honest.
“There’s also the chance of him maybe earning himself something until the end of the season but we will have to wait and see how it goes and how the slight injury is too.”
Moussa came through the youth system at Roots Hall and, after making his debut in 2006, he went on to play 102 times for the club, scoring eight goals before leaving in the summer of 2010.
The midfielder went on to play for Leicester City, Coventry City and Charlton Athletic as well as Doncaster Rovers and Chesterfield on loan before he was released by the Addicks at the start of February.
He could now line up for Blues again this afternoon but Myles Weston, Stephen McLaughlin and Jamar Loza will all definitely feature against the U’s.
And Brown is looking forward to seeing them in action.
“A decision will be made by Franck in the morning when we see how his knee has reacted to training but Jamar, Westy and Steve Mac will all be playing.
“It will do them good to get another game.”
Moussa could also feature and if he does return to Roots Hall on a permanent basis then he will be the second former youth player to come back to Blues this season after Glen Kamara was signed on loan from Arsenal.
