JOHN Wayne Hibbert could be on the cusp of his dream fight after he vacated his Commonwealth title to fight for the WBC Silver belt.
The 31-year-old from Horndon-on-the-Hill defeated Tommy Martin in January to successfully retain the Commonwealth title and he is now setting his sights on a world title fight after his team decided to pursue the WBC Silver belt.
"It is massive," said Hibbert. "I spoke to (Matchroom Boxing promoter) Eddie Hearn and he is trying to sort out a world title fight if it is available or a crack at the WBC Silver belt.
"I spoke to my team about the financial situation and it makes the most sense to go down this route. I have successfully defended the Commonwealth belt and this is my next target."
Hibbert thanked his supporters and sponsors T&P Lead Roofing, SVM Installation, Capwell Design, JVH Building Services, Simon James IT, Five Cleaning, Karis May Darling Foundation, D Crumpton Painting and Decoarating, Youth Creation and Le Hope Refurbishment.
