BLUES goalkeeper Ted Smith missed out on Saturday's clash with Fleetwood Town after injuring his thumb.
Shrimpers boss Phil Brown had been considering handing Smith his first start of the season amid the uncertainty surrounding Daniel Bentley's future.
But the youngster was forced to miss out.
"Ted bust his thumb in training on Friday," said Brown.
"He's ruptured the ligament in his thumb so he was unavailable for the game but I'm not sure how long he will be out for."
