SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown has made three changes to his starting line-up for this afternoon’s clash at Wigan Athletic.

Goalkeeper Ted Smith has been handed his first start of the season in place for Daniel Bentley while Will Atkinson has been preferred to Stephen McLaughlin in midfield.

The final change comes further forward with Sam McQueen coming in for Jack Payne who has been selected among the substitutes.
