I’VE been fortunate enough to have a few exciting victories since coming to the club and Saturday’s one against Rochdale was certainly right up there.
I thought it was similar to two boxers really slugging it out in the ring and it was a fight where you didn’t really want to see anyone fall down because it was such exciting stuff.
Being honest, Rochdale were probably unlucky to lose but things like that always even themselves out over the course of the season.
We’ve lost games we shouldn’t have done so we’ve been on both ends of the scale where that’s concerned now.
Whether or not it’s the most exciting win I’ve had here, I’m not sure.
Obviously winning at Wembley in the play-off final like we did is tough to beat and so is the 4-1 win we had against Millwall in the FA Cup back in 2014.
That game, played in awful weather, had it all including a floodlight failure so that’s also one that immediately springs to mind.
Saturday was also memorable and I think it will be another exciting game at the weekend against Bolton.
I was at their game against Crystal Palace on Tuesday night doing some work for the radio and they definitely have a lot of talent in their ranks.
We do as well though and it was great to see Simon Cox pop up with the 100th goal of his career to get us the win against Rochdale.
Coxy is an international footballer.
Somebody might see him as a former international footballer but I don’t subscribe to that view.
You don’t lose that subtleness and cleverness and he’s got that cutting edge in the penalty area too.
He’s got five goals in his last five games and has been able to strike up a good understanding with a variety of players.
It’s good to have that threat going forward and we’ll need it again on Saturday.
