BILLERICAY Town have moved to the top of the Isthmian Premier League standings after beating Metropolitan Police.

A Jake Robinson brace, along with a second half Louie Theophanous strike, guided Glenn Tamplin's side to a 3-0 victory over the play-off chasing visitors.

Referee Connor Farrell waved away early penalty appeals from the home side after Robinson appeared to be hauled down, but the in-form striker was to put Billericay in front soon after.

Sam Deering's 23rd minute cross was met by Robinson, who slid home. Metropolitan Police appealed for handball, but the goal stood.

And Robinson doubled his and Billericay's tally by netting 13 minutes later.

Captain Dean Inman found Theophanous and the attacker slid in Robinson, who finished well to notch his 35th goal of the season.

Theophanous made sure of the three points by beating his man and finding the back of the net from 10 yards on 63 minutes.

Alan Julian denied Metropolitan Police a consolation, while Robinson was denied another hat-trick as he saw his late header saved.

Billericay will now travel to Burgess Hill Town on Saturday top of the standings.

Billericay Town: Julian, Evans (Chambers 61'), Urquhart, Kizzi, Inman, Deering (Watt 67'), Waldren, Paine, Wheeler (Modeste 46'), Theophanous, Robinson
