EAST Thurrock United were thrashed 6-1 by National League South front runners Havant & Waterlooville in their penultimate game of the season.
Following four straight defeats in the division, Rocks were determined to put in a better showing on the south coast and, despite the scoreline, that was largely the case.
Rory Williams put Havant ahead after 17 minutes although Reece Harris' deflected cross was to bring parity 15 minutes later.
All square at half-time, Havant needed to up their efforts and they produced a barnstorming second half display that brought five goals and sent them top of the table on goal difference.
Theo Lewis put Havant ahead on the hour only for four goals in the final 15 minutes to condemn Rocks to a heavy reverse.
A Ryan Scott own goal, another goal for Lewis and a brace from Jason Prior completed the scoring.
