National League South
EAST Thurrock United’s season ended in defeat as Hungerford Town claimed the points to secure their National League South status for another season.
While Rocks had little to play for, Town knew they needed a result to avoid the drop.
It was a match of few chances, with the hosts patching up a number of players carrying knocks ahead of the clash.
Alfie Kilgour and Nick Bignall had efforts off target and saved respectively before the breakthrough.
Bignall got the first goal of the afternoon eight minutes before the interval to hand the Berkshire team the advantage in the race for survival.
Rocks upped the tempo after the break but struggled to breakdown an increasingly nervy Hungerford defence.
But the away side held on for the victory.
East Thurrock United: Lidakevicius, Sammons, Clark, Agyemang, Scott, Burns, Christou, Phipps, Higgins, Smith, Harris
