EAST Thurrock United have completed the coup signing of former West Ham United and England defender Paul Konchesky.
The left-back last played for Billericay Town in the Isthmian Premier League last season.
And he will now face his old employers in the National League South next term, having moved to Rookery Hill.
The 37-year-old joins Rocks as a player/coach.
“I am delighted Paul has agreed to join us," said manager John Coventry. "He will bring a significant presence to our club as a player and his knowledge of the game at the very highest level will be something our young players will gain massively from.
“They can’t help but learn from him and as a player he will also be a significant asset to our squad. It may not be the division’s biggest but we are trying to build a team of quality that people will enjoy watching.
“The fact that Paul has joined us when there would have been a lot of doors open to him is a huge thing for our football club.”
