JOHN Coventry says East Thurrock United looked as though ‘they didn’t believe they would get beaten’ after securing a 1-0 win against Slough Town to climb off the foot of the National League South.
Danilo Orsi-Dadomo’s goal 12 minutes from time was enough for all three points at Rookery Hill following five successive defeats at the start of term.
And manager Coventry said the victory was hugely pleasing.
“I would have taken a scrappy goal or win but apart from the first 20 minutes where Slough dominated they didn’t create much,” he said.
“I told my players at half-time it looked like they believed they wouldn’t get beaten, and we have at time.
“The game became very open and too much so for my liking. But we were able to get that one chance. Higgo (Sam Higgins) played a great ball around the corner and Danilo rounded the goalkeeper and scored well.
“It is a start and we can build from here.”
