Dartford 2–0 East Thurrock United
(Bonner 34’, Greenhalgh 73’)
From Princes Park
National League South
EAST Thurrock United came unstuck against a rejuvenate Dartford side as they fell to a sixth defeat in seven this season.
The Darts were 2-0 winners in Kent, with John Coventry’s team left pointless.
Kudus Oyenuga fired an early shot into the arms of away stopper Jack Giddens, with the home side then firing narrowly wide of the far post.
Rocks were struggling to get out and Giddens was coming under increasing pressure from the home attackers.
But Dartford did forge ahead 10 minutes before the half-time whistle. A corner was only partially cleared and Tom Bonner rammed home the loose ball.
However, Rocks passed up a glorious chance to level before the break. A handball in the penalty area resulted in a penalty being awarded to the visitors.
But the usually reliable Sam Higgins went for power and Deren Ibrahim made the block with his legs.
After the break, substitute Ben Marlow fired wide for East Thurrock while Rocks also rattled the frame of the goal.
Rocks continued to press only for Ben Greenhalgh to put the game beyond them. The former Concord Rangers man headed into the corner to make it 2-0 with 15 minutes remaining and that was how it stayed.
East Thurrock United: Giddens, Harris, Stephen, Moncur, Scott, Burns, Orsi-Dadomo (Marlow 54’), Lee, Higgins, Egan (Simmons 79’), Derry (Kellum 79’)
