BALLARDS Gore Golf Club’s Ladies Open proved to be a sell-out, with 96 golfers from 20 different Essex clubs competing.
Sue Jupp, Gill Byford and Debbie Fuller, from Garon Park Golf Club, clinched top spot despite playing on the Ballards Gore course for the first time.
The runners-up were Basildon Golf Club trio Angie Smith, Sue Cable and Daphne Saitch.
Meanwhile, Ballards Gore members were also tested in club competitions.
Jen Wall came out on top in the Ladies August Medal contest.
Wall finished with a nett score of 71, which was enough to claim a handicap deduction.
Marian Carter and Joan Parkes competed the top three with nett scores of 74 and 77 respectively.
Countback was needed to determine the winners of the Men’s Ridings Trophy Pairs event.
Mark Young and Simon Swain were named the victors, with 43 points.
Despite accumulating the same number of points, Martin Berry and Kieron Benson were made to settle for second place.
Elaine Beattie, Chris Ralph, Colin Langstone and Eric Green won the Sirco Bank Holiday 4BBB with 72 points.
Hilary Mackay, Ray Threadgold, Ann Dutton and Steve Gull were just one point adrift in the runners-up slot.
