SOUTHEND United manager Chris Powell has praised Theo Robinson’s perseverance against Wycombe Wanderers.
The striker missed a trio of good chances before hitting the back of the net at Adams Park.
And Powell was pleased to see Robinson continue to work his way into good areas.
“On another day Theo could have been taking the match ball home and by his standards he should have got a hat-trick but he kept going,” said Powell.
“A mark of a good striker is one who think ‘if it doesn’t happen this time then it will happen the next time’.
“It’s when you don’t get in there and the crosses are flashed across the area that’s the problem so you have to keep on being brave.
“I think the goal came off his shin or his knee but he was in there and that’s vital for a striker.
“Fair play to him and his movement also created the second goal.”
Robinson has now scored three goals in five starts this season.
