JOHN Sussex will be looking to taste victory at Maldon & Tiptree for the second time this season when Basildon United make the trip to Park Drive.
Sussex was assistant manager of Witham Town when Mark Ashford’s side notched a 1-0 win at the home of the Jammers.
And Sussex is hoping to bounce back from consecutive defeats by recording a positive result against Maldon.
“They are second in the league and a lot of their players have got Football League experience,” said Sussex, who left his role at Witham to succeed Neil Blackburn as the Basildon manager last month.
“Maldon have links to Colchester United and it’s a great place to play football.
“It’s a tough place to go but when I was with Witham we beat them 1-0 there, so it’s not impossible to win against them.”
Sussex will be without Joshua Strizovic for the remainder of the season after the goalkeeper was recalled by National League strugglers Maidstone United.
