GARY Waddock cannot wait to get started at Southend United.
The 57-year-old former QPR and Portsmouth boss has been confirmed as the Shrimpers new assistant manager.
And Waddock is thrilled to be working with Blues.
"I’m delighted to be here and I’m looking forward to getting started," said Waddock.
"I’ve been assistant manager before so I know the role.
"I’ve got a bit of experience as a manager as well but I’m just looking forward to being out on the grass and getting to know the players, working with the players and getting to know the club.”
Waddock spent eight years with QPR as a player during his own career and also played 21 times for the Republic of Ireland.
He has also managed Wycombe Wanderers, Oxford United and Aldershot Town.
