EAST Thurrock United’s Rookery Hill site is in the process of being sold, it has been revealed.
Rocks held a crisis meeting at the Grayers Graphics Stadium last night, with key roles needing to be filled in order to keep the Isthmian Premier League club afloat.
And Colin McBride, who featured for East Thurrock during his playing days and has gone onto manage fellow Essex sides Thurrock and Hornchurch, confirmed Rocks are looking to relocate to a new home.
A club statement read: “Colin McBride, speaking on behalf of the Bennett family, informed the meeting that the Rookery Hill site is in the process of being sold, but that the club was expected to have use of the ground into the 2021/22 season at least.
“The plan would then be to relocate to a new ground within the local catchment area, with money made available from the sale proceeds.”
A number of people have also offered their services to ensure a sound future for East Thurrock.
Key roles have now been filled, while others are willing to help on matchdays.
The club statement added: “At the open meeting, a large number of people came forward to offer their services to fill admin roles to enable the club to continue into the 2020/21 season.
“Some offered to fill key roles and others were willing to carry out various matchday duties.
“More details will follow once a formal meeting has taken place, but this number includes people with considerable previous football admin experience.”
