SOUTHEND United legend Steve Tilson feels he has unfinished business with the Shrimpers.
Tilson spent seven years in charge of Blues before leaving in 2010.
And the 53-year-old would love to be given the chance to return to Roots Hall and help the club bounce back from relegation into League Two.
“I feel like I have unfinished business at the club and it really does need some one or some two coming in who can bring everyone back together again,” said Tilson.
“Over the last three or four years the whole togetherness of the club has gone.
“I think that’s from the fans to the players, the players and manager to the fans and right through the club as well.
“I think that’s shown as well.”
Blues are on the look-out for a new manager following Sol Campbell’s departure last week.
But Tilson could not be too forthcoming on whether or not another Shrimpers legend, Adam Barrett, would be keen to work alongside him.
“I’d love to work with Adam because we know the club, we’re both passionate, we can man manage and both support Southend but obviously I can’t speak for Adam and he has a great job at Millwall,” said Tilson.
“I do feel we could bring everyone together again but I can’t say too much with regards to Adam.
“If the chairman wants him then he would have to approach Millwall but I do think he would be brilliant.
“And I was really disappointed we didn’t get it last time if I’m honest.”
Tilson made 275 appearances for Blues as a player before returning for a successful stint as manager which included back to back promotions and victory against Manchester United in the League Cup.
“Some of the best moments of my life are with Southend and it would be great to have some more,” he added.
