BILLERICAY Town were knocked out of the FA Trophy via a 4-2 penalty shootout defeat at home to Braintree Town last night, reports Leon Imber.
It was interim boss Dan Brown’s first match in charge of the hosts after Jamie O’Hara’s dismissal and such performance has illustrated that there is a lot of work to be done at the New Lodge.
Rueben Soares opened the scoring in the trophy tie 66 minutes in, but 12 minutes later his strike was cancelled out by a goal from Arjanit Krasniqi.
It was ultimately Billericay’s poor penalty taking that let them down, missing two of their four spot kicks.
The result is a poor one for the home side, but they now must put that right in the league to avoid slipping into a relegation scrap.
