AN Essex derby takes place in the National League South this evening as Billericay Town and Chelmsford City go toe-to-toe at the New Lodge, reports Leon Imber.
The match gives Town the chance to make it two wins on the bounce, after their impressive 2-0 win against Dulwich Hamlet on Saturday.
Before the turn of the new year, the Clarets were on a torrid run of six straight defeats, but their 2021 record so far has been purely victorious with two wins from their first two games of the year.
Both teams will be eager to propel themselves into the top half of the table, with City one point and one place above Town in the standings.
The visitors will need to keep an eye on Jake Robinson, the division’s second top goal scorer and Billericay’s biggest threat.
The prolific striker scored last time out to take his goal tally to 11 for the season.
