STAN Collymore has already organised for a prospective chief executive of Southend United to meet with Ron Martin next week.
Collymore recommended the induvial, who he is not willing to name publicly, to Martin during his Zoom call with the Blues’ owner this afternoon.
And former Shrimpers star Collymore has acted quickly to set up another conversation.
“I’ve facilitated for myself, Ron and a prospective CEO to meet early next week and I’m just waiting for Ron to confirm now,” said Collymore.
“I had a 45 minute zoom call with the individual who is incredibly impressive with an incredibly impressive CV.
“They are incredibly receptive to talking to Southend United and Ron Martin should there be a vacancy for CEO at the club.”
Collymore is keen to help his former club who are on the brink of falling out of the Football League for the first time in their history.
And Collymore feels the possible appointment would be a step in the right direction.
“I get on with this person very well,” said Collymore.
“I made contact in advance ahead of a positive conversation with Ron.
“That positive conversation took place and this person and I bounced off each other well.
“They had an idea what the conversation I wanted to have with them would be about so they came prepared.
“We’re meeting next week and it’s all very positive.
“It’s a huge step in the right direction.”
And Collymore is certain everyone already connected with the club will share that opinion.
“From me, knowing about this person, I would be stunned if the supporters, the staff at the club and the management wouldn’t be thinking like I am,” said Collymore.
“But I’m not going to say anything other than they are a very impressive industry professional that is currently working in the Football League and has full understanding and knowledge of the role.”
