SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown remains in talks with Queens Park Rangers about the future of striker Hamzad Kargbo.
The towering 19-year-old forward has lined up for the Shrimpers in pre-season.
And Brown is still holding discussions with the Championship club.
"With Hamzad I’ve made reference to him being work in progress," said Brown.
"He might be a sub to start with it and would have to force his way in with work.
"I’ve put that to QPR and I’m waiting for them to get back to me."
Midfielder Will Atkinson remains on trial with Blues and a decision will not be made on his future until he recovers from a calf injury.
Former Derby County goalkeeper Emmanuel Idem is also still training with the Shrimpers.
