SOUTHEND United striker Rhys Murphy has yet to join in with pre-season training.
Murphy has been sidelined with a knee problem since January.
And Blues boss Kevin Maher has confirmed the forward is still working his way back to full fitness.
“Rhys hasn’t been able to join in yet,” said Maher.
“He’s getting closer but he’s someone we’re going to have to manage through pre-season.
“The closer we get to the start of the season hopefully the closer he will be to being fit.
“But he’s one we can’t risks with because he’s been out for quite a period of time and we need to make sure he’s right.
“We won’t be rushing him back.”
Murphy scored nine goals in 24 appearances for Blues last season.
