NOOR Husin is ready to return for Southend United at Kings Langley tomorrow after being allowed to report back for pre-season training later than his team-mates.

Husin made four international appearances for Afghanistan during the summer as he faced Vietnam, Hong Kong, India and Cambodia in quick succession.

But he is now back at Blues and boss Kevin Maher is likely to call upon the midfielder this weekend.

“Noor come back Monday and had an extra period off due to the games he had on international duty,” said Maher.

“He needed that break but he’s a fit lad and he’s likely to be involved on Saturday too. “

Tomorrow’s match will be Blues’ first of the summer and Maher is excited for the games to be getting underway.

“We’re looking forward to the first game and the players will be too,” said the Blues boss.

“They’ve had a tough 10 days leading into this but it’s been going well and all the new players have settled in well.

"The sooner we get the games going the better really.”

Blues will be without strikers Rhys Murphy (knee) and Harry Cardwell (ankle) tomorrow but midfielder Jack Wood will definitely be involved against his former side.

“Jack is part of the reason we’re going back and it will be big for him to do so,” said Maher.

“He will definitely play some part in the game.

“We’re looking at 45 minutes each for the players in the first couple of games and then build things up from there.”
