SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher was ‘pleased with everyone’ following tonight’s 7-0 win at Canvey Island.
Blues bagged a convincing victory at Park Lane with Callum Powell scoring a hat-trick and Dan Mooney bagging a brace.
And Maher was happy with the display.
“It’s been a good evening for us and it was a good surface too I have to say,” said the Shrimpers boss.
“We got minutes into players, some got 60 and those who came on got 30.
“It can be hard coming on like that but they did well and I’m pleased with everyone really.
“It’s another good step towards where we want to be on August 6.
“You can’t read too much into it but we have some new players and they’re integrating with those we had here already.
“The more minutes they get together the more understanding there will be but it’s been good.
And Maher was also delighted to see Powell score three times after coming off the bench.
“I’m pleased,” said the Blues boss.
“He got a couple of penalties as well so I’m delighted with that, especially after Moons missing.
“Powelly is in a good place and you can see how good his fitness is.
“He will benefit from pre-season so I’m pleased for him and for everyone really.”
