JESSICA Judd finished fifth in the final of the 10,000m at the Commonwealth Games tonight.
Judd, who is from Canvey Island, dug deep to cross the line in a time of 31 minutes, 18.47 seconds, in a race that was won by Scotland's Eilish McColgan.
But Judd revealed on social media after the race that she had tested positive for Covid last week.
Judd wrote on Instagram: "Gave it 100 per cent today but just fell short of the medal I was aiming for. Sadly upon arriving back in the UK last week I tested positive for Covid and it's been a race againt time to be fit for this.
"From finding out I could race on Monday to getting into the village yesterday ato racing the 10k this afternoon and finishing fifth, it's a been a stressful week.
"So pleased with myself for putting myself out there when it's not been an easy preparation.
"Representing England in a in a home games was truly special, thanks for the cheers."
