SOUTHEND United striker Chris Wreh is staying positive as the Shrimpers look to add more goals to their game.
Blues have missed a number of chances during the opening matches of the National League campaign.
But Wreh – who scored for the Shrimpers in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat against Torquay United – is remaining upbeat.
“We’re confident and it’s one of those situations where you have to try and be positive,” said Wreh.
“If we weren’t creating the chances it would probably be a bigger issue if that makes sense.
“The positive is that we’re having a lot of shots but it’s now about turning chances into goals.
“Obviously it’s goals that win games so hopefully we can do that on Saturday against Barnet and moving forward as well.”
Blues will take on the Bees having picked up eight points from their first seven games.
And Wreh is eager to for the 13th placed Shrimpers to get back to winning ways this weekend.
“It's a big game for us to bounce back and get three points,” said Wreh.
“For me personally I’m itching to go and want to try to score again.
“The whole group has been working hard so hopefully we’ll take that into Saturday now.”
However, Blues will go into the game off the back of a frustrating home defeat to Torquay.
And Wreh still feels Southend should have taken something from the game.
“It was very frustrating,” said Wreh.
“I’m sure everyone is aware it’s a game we felt we should have taken three points on from.
“We had a lot of the ball, a lot of efforts goal and didn’t actually play badly.”
Wreh also bagged his second goal of the season as he headed home a left wing cross from Callum Powell.
And the summer signing was pleased to hit the back of the net.
“I’m really happy,” said Wreh.
“It was something Daz (Darren Currie) and I had been working on in training.
"We’d been working on my headers and a lot of them I had been struggling with but on Saturday I scored one.
"I was happy to get my first goal at home too.
"I know it was a loss but on a personal level it was good to score at Roots Hall."
