Premier Division RUNWELL Old Boys were 2-0 up in the first half through goals by Rivers but had to hang on in the second half when Beacon Hill Rovers pulled one goal back.
Hang on to the lead they did the win leaves them three points behind the league leaders Ford Basildon with a game in hand.
Writtle kept themselves in the title chase with a narrow 2-1 win at Dunmow where Gypps scored the home side's goal.
At the other end of the table, Witham CML needed to win at fellow stugglers Herongate Athletic.
But in the end Adcock scored their only goal to level the scores at 1-1 and they are relegated along with Britannia.
Division One THE title is still up for grabs but by drawing 2-2 at Ludlows, Frenford Senior have restricted their chances, English and Stamford scored for Ludlows.
Division Two East ALREADY crowned champions, Rochford visited Great Danes, who are chasing the runners-up spot.
And it was Great Danes who scored the only goal of the game, unfortunately at the wrong end thereby making their last game a must-win to get some honours.
Division Two West AT the top Great Berry Rangers are right on the heels of the leaders, Herongate Athletic Reserves, following a 3-1 win over Shenfield with two goals from Lynch and one by Pitcher.
West Essex reserves managed a 1-0 win over Chipping Ongar thanks to a Johnson's goal.
That gained them three welcome points but they rely on others slipping up to avoid the dreaded drop.
Division Three East League leaders Leigh Ramblers were humbled away to Shenfield Reserves where Henderson helped himself to four goals, Day and Fordham one each as the home side won 6-1.
Doe scored twice as Benfleet Reserves beat bottom club West Billericay by 5-2. Crumpton, Quick and Brown added the other goals.
Division Three East DODDINGHURST Olympic ended their campaign on a sour note as goals by Carr and Argent could not stave off a 3-2 loss to visitors Hannakins Farm.
Dunmow finished their fixtures on a high going to Springfield and defeating their reserves by 4-0.
Grays Athletic also finished on a winning note as goals by Uffell (2) and Russell helped them to a 3-2 win against Old Parmiterian A.
But they must wait to see if the team behind them, Sporting Club Henderson Reserves, will catch them for second spot behind Champions Newbury Park.
