CANVEY gave their hopes of making the end of season Ryman One North play-offs a massive boost last night with one of their best results of the season.
They went to second-placed AFC Sudbury, the only team in with a chance of pipping Dartford for the title, and returned with all three points, winning 2-0.
After Gabriel Fanibuyan and Leon Gordon had hit the woodwork, Gulls took the lead when Steve Corbell's free-kick beat home keeper Dean Neil.
And, with Sudbury pressing for an equaliser, the Islanders broke away to seal victory through Ian Luck.
Canvey moved up two places to sixth and are level with a Ware side filling the final play-off position - although the Hertfordshire outfit have a better goal difference.
With three games to go - two at home - Gulls are now in with an excellent chance of being involved in the play-off mix and host second from bottom Wivenhoe on Saturday.
