BETTERBALL competitions usually produce high scores, even off three-quarters handicap, and Ballards Gore's silver award was no exception.
Pride of place went to Peter Walsh, who was receiving 11 shots and continued his good form which had seen him already win three club trophies this season, and Trevor Day (8). Their winning score of 46 points included 11 pars and three birdies.
Colin Lane (13) and Godfrey Dutton (15) were second on 42.
They had 21 points on each nine, highlighted by a birdie on the par five 17th for four points.
Third place by virtue of a better back nine, with 41 points, were Russell Dunmore (11) and Barry Haines (21). They beat Gary Nichols and Tony Gibb, who are both 11-handicappers.
