GREAT Wakering Rovers will be hoping to end their recent depressing run and give local rivals Canvey Island a lift tomorrow.

The village side go to Ware, who are currently filling the fourth and final play-off spot - a place above the Islanders on level points but with a superior goal difference.

Rovers are safe in 14th spot, but manager Iain O'Connell has been rebuilding for next season and that has undoubtedly contributed to results.

They have lost seven of their last eight games.

"Canvey put themselves back in the frame with a great win at AFC Sudbury in midweek," said O'Connell.

"We've been hard-hit by injuries, suspensions and unavailability recently but we've always had good games at Ware since I've been here and I don't think we've been beaten there.

"They're a very good side but we got a goalless draw there in the FA Cup this season before they beat us 5-4 at our place in a really good game in the replay.

"But they did hammer us 4-1 at Burroughs Park in the league."

Rovers will have top scorer Martin Tuohy back from a four-match ban, but Neil Richmond and James White are likely to miss out through injury and Kevin Cole faces a late test.
