FREYA Ansell-Jones was in top form when the British elite compulsory grades qualifiers were held at Ipswich.
Gymnasts throughout the region were competing for one of the top four places for the national finals and Ansell-Jones, from Wickford's Carousel Club, won through in style.
The nine-year-old from Billericay was competing in compulsory four and had an excellent competition, winning by nearly five marks ahead of the next placed gymnast.
Ansell-Jones also won on every piece of apparatus and was the only gymnast to score more than 12 with a fantastic 13-plus on vault.
This outstanding performance gained her a place in the team representing the eastern region at the national finals in Birmingham next month.
In the compulsory five grade, which is a regional competition for seven/eight-year-olds, Karen Goshen was fifth overall with a second place on range and conditioning.
And Chloe Stone was sixth with a first place on bars, both gaining distinctions.
