CANVEY Island soccer star Chris Bourne is returning to international duty with Guyana.
The former Southend United youngster made two friendly appearances for Guyana earlier in the season.
He flies out on Saturday to play for them in a friendly match in Guatemala on April 27.
The game is in preparation for Guyana's opening tie in the qualifying stages of the 2010 World Cup.
They play away to Suriname on June 14 and stage the home leg eight days later.
With Gulls on the verge of clinching a place in the Ryman One North play-offs it's a busy time for Bourne.
On Tuesday he was in the Canvey line-up which won a place in the final of the Essex Thames-side Trophy and scored in the 4-2 success.
And the Sceptre Sunday League division seven side he manages, FC Gulls, have just won their championship and are preparing for a League Cup final date at Cupids Country Club on Sunday May 11.
Said Bourne: "Myself and my family are delighted I've been picked for another friendly. Obviously we are all very proud."
In his previous friendly appearances Bourne, who can fill a role at full-back or the left-side of midfield, won praise for the quality of his crossing.
On his previous international dates Bourne was joined by fellow islanders Clydie Roberts in the Guyana set-up, but the latter has not been selected this time.
Two other Canvey players, Ryan Edgar and Danny Francis, were in the Dominica side for their recent World Cup qualifying dates with Barbados, but their country lost out to opposition who now take on the United States of America.
